Bing is Microsoft's new online search portal, located at bing.com. The site has some interesting features.
Bing's search capability is sensitive to the type of information being searched for and brings up information on the search results that is more relevant. for example, you searched for FedEx and Bing brings up a page with major links and the ability to track a package. Here is a great Web 2.0 tool that will have many uses in your classroom...no matter what age you teach. Wordle is a great tool for generating something called word clouds. Either type or copy and paste in your text and let Wordle generate a unique word cloud. The clouds created give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. Wordle lets users change fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, save them or do a print screen to save your project. Wordle would be a great way for students to check what words are being over used in their writing by simply past their text into the Wordle text box. There is a site that I have been encouraging educators to use for years, FreePlayMusic.com. FreePlayMusic is a great site for both students and teachers looking for instrumental music without lyrics. Not only does it offers high quality music to download, but they also have a large collection of High End Broadcast production music spanning all the popular musical genres, available for download.
